Boundaries begin with your Inner Sanctum: Your Essence

I lifted myself off the ground, slowly. As I did, I felt something touch me gently. Jewelweed presented itself as a gift for my itchy hands and arms. My senses heightened as I recognized the lessons...where the flower lives can not be taken for granted. There are signs all over to protect the gift. I thought to myself about how many times I take gifts for granted, how often I leave my boundaries unattended or ignore the signs. In this journey I’m on the outside, I instantly feel an ache in my heart. I see, what do the boundaries protect for me? How? Where?

DARING TO SET BOUNDARIES IS ABOUT HAVING THE COURAGE TO LOVE OURSELVES, EVEN WHEN WE RISK DISAPPOINTING OTHERS. ~Brene Brown

Gather your medicine and tools that help create sacred space. Be sure to have a candle. Call in the corners and above and below. State your willingness to see and act on what is shown.

Ally Possibilities for Boundary Work

Citrine Crystal: Cleanser and regenerator. Absorbs, transmutes, dissipates, and grounds negative energy and therefore is protective for the environment. As an aura protector, it acts as an early warning system so that action could be taken to protect oneself.

Lavender (Herb & EO -essential oil- ): Stability and calm. Attracts energy of a high vibrational nature. Increases awareness and also offers protection.

Chakra: Crown & Solar Plexus

I pulled a card from the Goddess Guidance Oracles deck. It was Ishtar-Boundaries. “Love yourself enough to say no to others’ demands on your time and energy.”

Talking about this never gets old and there is always something new to learn. I want to start with talking about the boundaries that support you. You as in the essences that dwells within from which all creation comes. This infinite being has no labels, titles or roles-it is ALL. While this is an unlimited resource, it dwells in a finite body. And while we can transcend, we must honor the full spectrum of our beingness.

I’ve found that folks that are awake to multi-dimensional living can create and move, even when we are asleep. I know some of you know about that! The question I started asking myself is where is the space and when do we ground? The protection of this sacred center from where all that you are comes from calling for space. While that energy is limitless it is encased in a human body that meets vibration for vibration. We live on a planet of seasons and cycles. How are we creating practices that offer us space and breath? What are your practices and are you okay with just being?

I’ve become sound and information sensitive (I’d like to call this essence abuse :)). There was a call to accountability for not having enough space. Space between me and the boundaries; I’ve been repairing the fence. Some parts are stones and others wood. I show up for the work- at times with sorrow in my heart for how I haven’t honored myself...because of how much I pull and how many energetic checks I write (everything, like threads in a tapestry, holds energy).

This is why we have the gifts of stillness that many belief systems offer us. It is the space between the breath that we are looking at. So here are some questions for us-

What is the space between you and your day?
How much are you creating? How much is on your plate?
What are you nourishing your essence with? Be mindful with the line between the nourishment and another thing to do or be!
How much space/time do you give yourself around transitions, change, and seasons? There is so much noise/busyness in our fields, minds, eyes, etc. To allow space is to honor the cleansing and clearing process.
How do you create space to hear your own voice?
How do you come home back to center, even if that requires being misunderstood or what sometimes we perceive as missing out? In a Women’s Leadership Circle I teach locally, the sista’s shared FOMO with me. I was ecstatic! Fear. Of. Missing. Out. Are your personal boundaries nebulous because you are suffering from FOMO?

If we are going to continue to show up in our lives and communities, doing the work we love and loving on our people, we must first do that for ourselves. We must acknowledge that our sustainability impacts the sustainability of that which we create. It is time. I don’t say this from some removed place of arrival, but from a very present acknowledgment of the journey and what is at stake =the future. The power of practices that support our beacon and vibrational capacity become even more imperative as you expand into generational vision.
